Asked if there would be an Oral Statement to the House of Commons next week regarding the Kelly review, the PMS said that there would be an Oral Statement next week and we would confirm who would be giving it nearer the time.
Asked if the Kelly proposals would be put to a MPs’ vote, the PMS said no; MPs had agreed that the Parliamentary Standards Authority Bill took the issue of expenses out of their hands. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority would put in place the new expenses regime and then implement it.
