House of Lords

Asked about reports suggesting Kirstie Allsop would be approached by the Conservative Party to join the House of Lords, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had set out his views on reform of different elements of the political system including the House of Lords.

  1. This should demonstrate how removed from public opinion the Conservatives are. They are wanting to fill the House of Lords with “Public friendly faces”. Whilst Kirstie Allsop advises on housing policy this is hardly a reason to give a peerage, particularly after programmes like Location, Location, Location caused a belief that you could not lose with property and contributed, in a slow way, to the balooning of peoples belief in the housing market.
