Baroness Scotland
« United Nations | Back to most recent briefing | Prime Minister’s Eyesight »
Asked what the Prime Minister thought about Baroness Scotland comparing the 5000 fine she received to not paying the congestion charge, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) repeated what she had said yesterday; she was not going to get into characterising the final decision of the UK Border Agency. Baroness Scotland had apologised unreservedly for what had happened and her reference to the congestion charge was pointing out the civil rather than criminal nature of the offence, nothing further.
Asked if the Prime Minister thought it was an appropriate comparison, the PMS repeated that she would not get into characterising it; Baroness Scotland had apologised, the fine had been put in place, which we believed was the appropriate action, and Baroness Scotland had paid it.
