Asked for a response to reports that several Cabinet Ministers had said that now was the time to put ID cards on hold, the PMS replied that the Government s position on ID cards had been well set out in the past and the position had not changed.
Asked for the Prime Minister s view on the latest borrowing figures for August, the PMS said that he had not seen them in detail but he thought they were broadly in line with the forecast. Put that some were saying that borrowing could exceed 175billion this year and was there any reaction from the Prime Minister to that, the PMS replied not at this stage.
