Asked if the Prime Minister was on holiday, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister was in his constituency and would be in his constituency for some time. He remained the Prime Minister and would continue to be briefed on key issues such as Swine flu, the economy and Afghanistan, but as we were saying last week, senior Cabinet Ministers, and this week it was Harriet Harman, would take on more responsibility for some of the day-to-day issues. Asked if the Prime Minister was watching sport, the PMS replied that that was what the Prime Minister had said at his press conference. Asked if Harriet Harman was minding the shop from the event she was attending in Hull, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was the Prime Minister and remained that at all times. As in previous years, some senior Cabinet Ministers would take on more responsibility for some of the day-to-day issues and this week it was Harriet Harman s turn. Asked if Harriet Harman had come into Downing Street for a briefing this morning, the PMS said that he would not get into internal Government processes; Harriet Harman was in Hull and she had not been in Downing Street today. We did expect her to be in Downing Street for some of tomorrow. Asked what Harriet Harman would be doing in Hull, the PMS said that she would be attending a consultation event relating to Building Britain s Future. Asked if this was a longstanding engagement, the PMS said he did not have any more information on Harriet Harman s diary.
