Put that Jacqui Smith had said in an interview that she had had no experience of running a major organisation before becoming Home Secretary, the PMS said that he was not going to start providing a commentary on interviews with former Ministers. The Prime Minister s views on Jacqui Smith and her performance as Home Secretary were set out in his letter to her on 5th June, which we published at the time; the Prime Minister noted Ms Smith s substantial and lasting achievements for which he was sincerely grateful.
