10p Tax
« Quangos | Back to most recent briefing | Offenders »
Asked how worried the Prime Minister was about Frank Field s amendments to the 10p Tax Bill, the PMS said that we had provided additional help for low to middle-income families. The Government had increased the personal tax allowance by 130 on top of the 600 increase that was announced it May for 2008/09.Those changes meant that twenty-two million basic rate taxpayers under sixty-five would pay 145 less tax in real terns in 2009/10.
Asked if the Prime Minister was worried that there could be a rebellion, the PMS said that we would set out our case later.
