Ministerial Statements

Put that the Speaker had said that he wanted Ministerial Statements to be made first to the House and would there be any change in procedure in No10, the PMS said that the question implied that we were inappropriately giving information to media organisations before we did so to the House of Commons. It would be inappropriate for the Government to do that.

Put that in that case the World at One and the Daily Mail yesterday were appropriate, the PMS said that they were; we had set out what had been set out previously. The new information was in the nature and the specifics of the criminal sanctions.
