When asked why the Prime Minister did not think evidence should be given under oath during the Iraq Inquiry, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had set out his views on the Iraq Inquiry on the World At One at lunchtime. The Prime Minister reflected the views that had been expressed both by Sir John Chilcot in his letter to the Prime Minister yesterday and the Prime Minister s reply which had set out his views in some detail.
Sir John Chilcot had written back to the Prime Minister and suggested that he did think there was a way that people could give at least an undertaking that what they were saying was truthful and complete in full. Sir John Chilcot would continue to consult with party leaders and the chairs of the relevant committees in the coming days.
