The Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) began by telling the assembled journalists what happened at Cabinet this morning; there was a discussion on the National Security Strategy and a presentation from Lord West; an update from Andy Burnham on swine flu; a presentation from Ed Balls on the upcoming Schools White Paper and an update from the Prime Minister on the situation in Iran (in the Foreign Secretary s absence), and on the outcome of the European Council Meeting last week.
Asked if there had been a discussion at Cabinet on public spending, the PMS said that there was quite a wide-ranging discussion about public services in the context of the Schools White Paper but there was no specific discussion on the issue of public spending.
