Asked if Sir John Scarlett s decision to retire as the Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) had anything to do with the Iraq inquiry announced yesterday, the PMS said no.
Asked for any words regarding Sir John Scarlett s tenure as Chief of the SIS, the PMS said that Sir John Scarlett had done an important and valuable job in guiding the SIS through a period of change, and had made a real contribution to protecting Britain from international terrorism and other global threats.
