« Stephen Carter | Back to most recent briefing | Iraq »
Asked whether legislation to implement the Calman Commission could be expected soon, the PMS said the Prime Minister had welcomed the report and that the Government would need to study it in detail. The Government was ready to work with the other Parties who supported Scotland s place in the UK in order to progress the report.
Asked about the timetable going forward, the PMS explained that the next steps would be a steering group comprising the parties involved in the Calman Commission process, chaired by the Secretary of State for Scotland. It will plan how to take forward the recommendations to deliver stronger devolution within a stronger UK. This group would meet within the next few weeks.
