Caroline Flint
« Statement on Constitutional Reform | Back to most recent briefing | Shahid Malik »
Put that Caroline Flint had been talking about the manner of her departure this morning and had said that the Prime Minister had cast aspersions over her loyalty before she left the Government, the PMS said that that was not a version of events that we would recognise. The Prime Minister had offered Caroline Flint a promotion by giving her the opportunity to attend every meeting of Cabinet. Asked what the Prime Minister thought about Caroline Flint s loyalty now, the PMS said that that was not something he d want to comment on.
Asked why several Ministers including Jane Kennedy seemed to have had completely different recollections of their conversations with the Prime Minister, the PMS said that Jane Kennedy had a completely consistent recollection of her conversation with the Prime Minister; when she was asked if the Prime Minister had asked her for a pledge of loyalty, she had said no.
