Edwin Dyer

Asked if there was any more information on Edwin Dyer, the PMS said that he had nothing to add to the Prime Minister’s statement form this morning. Put that a number of other hostages had been released and would the Prime Minister look at the Government’s policy of not negotiating with terrorist organisations, the PMS said that we had a very longstanding policy; we did not pay ransom or make any other substantive concessions to hostage takers. To do so would reward and encourage kidnapping and fund terrorist organisations, endangering Britons at home and overseas.
