Burma

Asked whether the UK Government s concern about the situation had been expressed in any other way apart from the Prime Minister s statement, the PMS said that we were making our views known to the Burmese government; the Foreign Office would be able to give people an idea of the exact mechanisms through which that was happening. Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to the Burmese regime, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had not spoken directly to anyone in Burma, but the Burmese government were well aware of our views on this issue.
