Asked if the deal between the Treasury and Lloyds would be concluded today, the PMS said that there was nothing further to add to what had already been said by the Treasury; the well-advanced discussions were ongoing and an announcement would be made once they were concluded.
Asked if the Government would bailout Vauxhall, the PMS said that we were in close contact with the company and, as Lord Mandelson has said, we were also in close contact with a number of other companies. Our approach so far had been to provide a package of general support for the car industry that individual companies were entitled to apply for.
