Asked if the Prime Minister was satisfied that security for Ministers was sufficient in light of the fact a protester had thrown custard over Lord Mandelson at a Government event this morning, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) said that security arrangements for Ministers were kept under constant review. It was our long established position not to comment on the protective security arrangements for any individuals. Decisions regarding security arrangements for Ministers were made by the police, in consultation with the Government.
Asked if the Government thought people should be prosecuted for the type of behaviour displayed today by the protester, the PMS said that decisions on the prosecution of individuals were not a matter for the Government.
