The Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) said that at Cabinet this morning there was an update on the legislative programme; a presentation from the Chancellor on the economy; a readout from the Prime Minister on his trip to the US and a presentation from Liam Byrne on public service reform.
The Chancellor noted that the Chinese were expected to make an announcement on a fiscal stimulus. He also gave an update on where we were on the Asset Protection Scheme and spoke about the announcement from the Bank of England (BoE) and the publication of the exchange of letters between the BoE and the Treasury.
Asked if quantitative easing was discussed at Cabinet, the PMS said that during his presentation the Chancellor discussed what measures the BoE might take to meet its inflation target.
