Asked about the front page story in the Times regarding Bills in the Queen s Speech, the PMS said it was right that the department continued to keep all of these issues under review as people would expect them to. We were also very clear that we had a strong commitment to fairness and we would continue to take action to ensure that we helped the British people get through this recession in a fair way. The PMS added that no decisions had been made on the issues raised in that story. It was right that we looked closely at the cost on business and the timing of new regulations, but no decisions had been made that changed the existing position and we were very clear that we needed to help get people through the recession fairly.
Asked about the Prime Minister s meeting with the leaders of the devolved nations, the PMS said it would be a good opportunity for them to take stock on a wide range of issues but we would expect most of the discussion to be on the economy.
