Asked whether the Prime Minister was satisfied that a higher proportion of the work involved in the intercity express programme will not be carried out in the UK, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister was satisfied that the contract was awarded to the best bidder. The Department of Transport could respond on specifics if there was anything new to say.
