Glen Moreno

Asked about the Prime Minister referring to Glen Moreno as Acting Chairman of UKFI, and would the Prime Minister welcome his application for a permanent post, the PMS replied that the previous Chairman of UKFI was Phillip Hampton, and he left at short notice to become the Chairman of RBS and there was therefore a gap. Mr Moreno was appointed Acting Chairman, and there would be a process in order to appoint a Chairman on a permanent basis. It was as straightforward as that.

Asked if Mr Moreno was welcome to apply, the PMS replied that anybody would be welcome to apply, but the Prime Minister and the Chancellor had absolutely no issue with Mr Moreno or the job that he was doing at the moment.

Put that this was therefore very different to the case of James Crosby, the PMS replied that there was no issue with Mr Moreno.

Asked about the Sunday Times story on tax evasion, the PMS replied that there was no suggestion that Mr Moreno had done anything wrong.

Asked if the Prime Minister and the Chancellor had full confidence in Mr Moreno in that role until somebody else takes over the job, the PMS replied that they had full confidence in Mr Moreno, and the Treasury would advertise for a permanent chairman in line with standard procedures.
