National Employment Partnership

Asked for more details, the PMS said that it was a very useful meeting that brought the Government together with a number of the UK’s leading employers. The NEP pledged to advertise all non-specialist vacancies through Job Centre Plus, increasing the availability of apprenticeships and focussing on new opportunities for those unemployed for more than six months.

Asked whether the Prime Minister was pleased that unemployment had not gone above two million, the PMS said that these were very disappointing figures. Every job loss was a matter of regret and disappointment.
