Knife Crime

Asked if there was any response to the claim that a Downing Street advisor had ordered the publication of the knife crime stats, the PMS said that Kevin Brennan had told the Public Administration Select Committee that he would respond to their request. In reference to the Downing Street official the PMS said that this was referred to previously when Jeremy Heywood wrote to Sir Michael Scholar and Gus O Donnell had previously written to Tony Wright as well. It was also raised in a statement that Jacqui Smith gave to the House of Commons in December.
