Mortage Package

Put that the criticism levelled at the package was that the measures would only help people who would be helped out by the banks anyway, such as people with jobs or with job prospects, the PMS said he did not think that that was the case at all. The criteria that the Treasury had set out today were exactly the criteria that we had set out last week following the Queen s Speech announcement. This was about providing temporary assistance, in order to give people a breathing space for those who had experienced a temporary reduction in their income as a result of the global downturn.
