Euro

Put that the Chancellor had been asked earlier at the Press Gallery lunch about joining the Euro, and that he responded by saying that he would do whatever was necessary, but that the policy had not changed one jot since 2003, the PMS replied that he was not at the event or seen the Chancellor s words. But the important thing was that he said that the policy had not changed one jot since 2003 which was obviously correct.

Asked if there had been any discussion yesterday with Presidents Barroso and Sarkozy of British membership of the Euro, the PMS replied that it was not discussed as far as he was aware.
