Business for New Europe Meeting

Asked if there were any banks at the breakfast this morning, the PMS said that there were a number of financial institutions represented but people were there as representatives because of their interests in European matters; it was not a breakfast to discuss financial matters.

Asked if the Business Secretary was at the breakfast, the PMS said that the Business Secretary was not at the breakfast.

Put that the Business Secretary was in Downing Street this morning, the PMS replied that Ministers had meetings in Downing Street all the time, as you would expect.

Put that it was odd that the Business Secretary was not at the business meeting, the PMS said no, the Business Secretary was at another business breakfast. It was absolutely right that we should speak to businesses on a regular basis at a time like this.
