Asked about the Prime Minister s meeting with General Petraeus, the PMS said that General Petraues now had a wider role in the US military and remained a very important figure. That was why the Prime Minister was pleased to meet him in Downing Street today. They would be discussing a wide range of issues including the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Asked if they would discuss British troop numbers, the PMS said that any decisions on troops would be announced in the normal way.
