Asked how the meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister was brought about, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) told the assembled press that the Prime Minister met the Georgian Prime Minister in Brussels two weeks ago and they had agreed to stay in touch. The Georgian Prime Minister would be in London and there was also a meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in London that day. Asked if there had been any change in the UK s position on Georgia s membership of NATO, the PMS said there had not been any change in the British position. EU Foreign Ministers would no doubt also be discussing the situation in Georgia at their meeting today. If there was more to say on the matter, the PMS was sure we could give an update later in the week.
