Asked whether the Government was concerned that tighter regulations on short-selling would have a negative impact on London’s financial reputation, the PMS said he thought that sounded like a question that would be best directed towards the Treasury.
Asked if the Prime Minister had held talks with anyone from the big banks this week, the PMS replied that people would not normally expect him to comment on individual meetings. There were rumours yesterday that we had dismissed quite strongly.
