Asked what the White Paper on joint birth registration was about, the PMS said that it was about issues relating to the designation of fathers on birth certificates.

Asked if the Prime Minister had any plans to have meetings in the House of Commons today, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had meetings in Downing Street and the House of Commons all the time but that we would not normally get into specifics regarding meeting locations.

Asked what was on the agenda for the Prime Minister’s meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, the PMS said that the main issue was the upcoming G8 meeting in Japan in July. As journalists knew, we had been pushing for oil to be the lead item on the economic agenda for the G8 meeting; the discussion today would cover that as well as the global economic situation, climate change, food prices and any other relevant G8 issues.

Asked about the earliest time the Prime Minister had called a member of the public, the PMS said that he did not have an exact record of the time of every call but that there had not been any calls at 6 o’clock in the morning.
