» Monday, March 10, 2008Peter Mandelson
Asked if the Prime Minister welcomed Peter Mandelson staying on as British European Commissioner for a second term, the PMS replied that it was clearly very early days in terms of discussing or making decisions in relation to the next British European Commissioner. Put that the Prime Minister had previously said Tony Blair would make a good candidate for the post of President of the EU and asked if the Prime Minister thought Tony Blair would make a good President, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had made his original comments in relation to the possibility of Mr Blair doing that actual job, so clearly the answer was yes.
