Put that reports had talked of a "heated" meeting with the Prime Minister this morning, the PMS replied that he did not recognise that description of the meeting - as we said this morning we thought it was a constructive meeting. Asked for the Government’s position on agency workers, the PMS replied that the Government’s position as we had been saying consistently for several months now, was that we did accept that there was an issue in relation to agency workers; we believed that the best way of addressing this was through the establishment of a commission involving both the unions and employers, and headed by an independent figure. We thought that this was a better way of dealing with the issues rather than through a Private Members Bill.
