» Monday, February 25, 2008Speaker of the House
Asked if there were any comments from the Prime Minister’s Five News interview on the Speaker, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) replied that the Prime Minister was asked about the Speaker, and he said that he believed that Michael Martin has been and is a very good Speaker. Asked why the Prime Minister felt the need to express himself slightly differently in his comments on the Speaker, the PMS replied that there seemed to be an interpretation that was being put on it by some people in the media that was not in line with what the Prime Minister’s intentions were. Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to the Speaker in the last 72 hours, the PMS replied that people would not really expect him to comment on the Prime Minister’s private conversations.
