Asked if the Prime Minister had discussed with Bertie Ahern, or was planning to discuss with Chancellor Merkel the row over inviting Robert Mugabe to the EU Summit, the PMS replied that that was not discussed with the Taoiseach, and we were still many months away from the EU/Africa summit. The PMS added that there were still many opportunities to find a diplomatic solution that was agreeable to all parties by then.
