ID Cards

Asked if the Prime Minister was confident that the ID cards scheme would go ahead in the form that it was put before Parliament, the PMOS replied that he was not going to get into artificial deadlines. However, the introduction of the ID cards system remained broadly on track.

  1. Artificial deadlines? Those that the government have been trumpeting and guaranteeing to Parliament and the public? Those upon which the Home Office cost estimates are predicated?

And broadly on which track? Is the PMOS refuting the story in the Sunday Times at the weekend*, then?

The PMOS could do with actually answering the question, perhaps. And the lobby could do with actually following it up, frankly.
