Asked to clarify whether or not there was any investigation into John Prescott’s affair by either the Cabinet Office or the ODPM, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) said, as he had made clear yesterday, that the answer to that was no. No prizes for guessing ‘why not?’.
It will be interesting to see whether he takes his denial of sex in the office and abuse of the official car so far as to deny it himself in the HofC.
Has anyone asked the official drivers about this?
Comment by Mr Pooter — 4 May 2006 on 9:56 am | LinkPrescott has already nailed his colours to the mast. He’s dismissed virtually all of the (entertaining) published detail as exaggeration or untrue etc. I’d like to see him take his chances in the courts and sue for libel.
There’s no danger of that happening at all, for all sorts of reasons.
Official drivers (gcs@gcda.gsi.gov.uk on 020 7217 3817) are supposed to log their journeys. Calling for the log books of allocated drivers would only show the journeys - they don’t necessarily reflect the occupancy of the vehicles. And you can be sure that ‘Security’ will be the first objection under the FoI Acts - even for historical information.
Comment by Chuck Unsworth — 4 May 2006 on 12:55 pm | LinkNo doubt the small matter of the DPM going to the door `allegedly` with `his trousers open, exposing himself` will be glossed over as a `Hull handshake`.
