Ken Livingstone Comments

Asked for further comments regarding Ken Livingstone’s remarks earlier today regarding the London bombs and the relationship between various Western Governments and the Middle East, the PMOS said it would be wrong for him to act as a commentor. People recognised that in the past, the Prime Minster and Mr. Livingstone had different views of the world, but equally, we recognised that Mr. Livingstone, as the chief elected official in London had given real leadership at this difficult time.

Asked if that meant to justify a suicide bomber, the PMOS said it was possible to recognise the lead someone had given, while fundamentally disagreeing with their world view.

  1. I have been watching the news recently and have relatives and friends living in London.

I believe there needs to be advice, guidance, training, education, call it what you will for people who might be caught up in any incidents involving suspected terrorists, suspicious objects and armed police.

With helpful guidance people might be able to look after their own safety and the safety of others and minimise risks of a bad situation being made worse by hasty or ill-conceived actions. I have in mind being vigilant, notifying suspicious objects or people attempting to leave them, dealing with any such people, evacuating trains, buses and stations in as safe a way as possible, keeping calm, moving quickly but not stampeding, helping others who might fall etc.. Also, what action to take if found in the presence of armed police to avoid getting shot by accident, given that we know that the rules of ngagement mean that police are now instructed to shoot to kill in some circumstances.

This is intended to be helpful at a time when we need to stick together and help each other.

  3. The more interesting in that day was how Ken and Blair were trying to make the most of the moment. When Blair saw Ken made a good speech , he went right back and gave another impressive blabla…they are all damn faceless liars
