The Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that the Prime Minister was attending the unveiling of the new Airbus A380. He would speak during the ceremony and would say that Airbus demonstrated how we could achieve much more together in Europe than we ever could alone. "Working together in Europe means that we can compete with anybody in the world." He would also say that this was a success story for British Industry (including Rolls Royce Engines these planes are 50% British) and for European co-operation. The Prime Minister would add that the UK designs, develops and produces all the wings for the A380 - the most complex and technologically advanced part of the plane. The development and production of the wings will be worth well in excess of £15 billion in work for the UK and it will benefit the UK work force: Twelve Thousand people in Airbus UK - 6,000 in Broughton and 6,000 in Bristol - working on the wings. In addition there are a further 400 companies in the supply chain across the UK, creating thousands of new jobs in the UK.
