So let's draw the parallel:

Whether we win or lose Euro 2004, all the rest of the world will remember are the riots.

Oh, there are "links", as in Mystery Science Theatre links. Person connected to X was in the same place with person connected to Y and had a meeting with common Z; or person connected to X and person connected to Y met in some clandestine location... once... eight years ago. Or even X let someone from Y's organisation receive medical treatment. X granted asylum to hijackers believed to be connected to Y. X granted permission for someone in Y's organisation to have medical treatment to live in Baghdad.

You know, vague crap like that. But at no point do X and Y ever meet; or support one another; or have real common interests or goals, other than some general dislike of the United States.

If it's general dislike of the United States that makes one a suspected Al-Qaeda terrorist, then hell, every country on the planet has millions of them. Someone has to draw the line somewhere, and right now, the U.S. is being very busy trying to draw the line at "people that most people don't like very much and who don't like us", knowing full well that if they choose their demographic carefully, they'll get support from the sheeple.

Even this won't derail him.

Unless, of course, those hypothetical discussions are about what Saddam Hussein might have done or assuming that every terrorist act is committed by an organisation "with links to Al-Quaida".
