Asked whether the intelligence services feared that there were other cells like the one convicted yesterday, the PMS replied that it was important that the intelligence services were constantly alert to the threat of terrorism. We faced a real and serious threat and that was why we were focussed on making sure that we had the best possible intelligence service input into this issue. Put that the security threat level had actually been lowered relatively recently, the PMS said that that was correct.
Asked whether the Government was revisiting the idea of multiculturalism and integrating Muslims into society, the PMS said that multiculturalism was a very important facet of British life and there were a number of programmes in place and departmental initiatives that were focussed on this issue.
