Put that there had been reports of heated exchanges at Cabinet about spending cuts and how would he characterise the exchanges at Cabinet, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) told the assembled press that he would characterise the general mood and exchanges as being very constructive and good tempered.
Asked if there was a move towards changing the approach on the subject, the PMS said he would not get into the specifics of the Cabinet discussion. There was a wide-ranging discussion, with the Cabinet talking about how we took forward Building Britain s Future, the economy, Iran, Swine Flu, the Financial Services White Paper and the International Development White Paper.
Asked if there was any discussion of when there might be a spending review, the PMS said he would not be getting into the specifics of the meeting. The position on that subject was set out by the Prime Minister yesterday. Asked if there was any discussion on spending cuts, the PMS said that there was a wide-ranging discussion that covered a whole range of issues.
