The Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) said at Cabinet this morning they discussed the economy and the Prime Minister led a discussion on the follow-up to Building Britain s Future (BBF), emphasising the importance of pushing through the delivery of the announcements that we made yesterday. There was an update from the Chancellor on the Financial Services White Paper, which would be published shortly. There was a presentation from Douglas Alexander on the International Development White Paper, which would also be published shortly. There was also an update from Andy Burnham on swine flu and an update from David Miliband on Iran. Asked what was said about the economy, the PMS said that it was a general discussion, which focused on the continued level of uncertainty, both here and overseas, and also focused on the action that we were taking in Britain in order to help us get through this difficult time. Asked what was said about swine flu at Cabinet, the PMS said that it was an update on the general situation; Andy Burnham was likely to make further public updates in the course of the next few days. Asked what was discussed about Iran at Cabinet, the PMS said that there was an update from the Foreign Secretary, very much in-line with what he and the Prime Minister had been saying in recent days about the action that had been taken by the Iranian regime to continue to detain four locally engaged British embassy staff. Our understanding was that four remained in detention. Briefing took place at 11:00 | Search for related news Original PMOS briefings are © Crown Copyright.
