Asked for the Prime Minister s view on the election of a Speaker for the House of Commons, the PMS explained that the Prime Minister did not have a view on that. The precedent was that Prime Ministers in the past had not voted in the election of a Speaker and it remained the Prime Minister s intention not to vote, nor to express any public view.
