Put that there was a suggestion that the Government was "soft peddling" on energy liberalisation, the PMS said that the Government would continue to make the case for energy liberalisation in Europe.

Asked about plans regarding the miners’ compensation scheme, the PMS said that he was not aware of any such plans.

Asked if the Baker Review on MPs’ pay had reached Downing Street, the PMS said that we would not normally comment on whether or not documents had arrived but it was expected that this report would be published in the next couple of weeks.
