President Barroso

Asked whether the Prime Minister would be discussing the EU Treaty with President Barroso tomorrow, the PMS said he would not expect them to take up too much time on that subject. The main issues being discussed would be the big issues for the European Council later this month, which would be around energy, oil and climate change.
Asked if the Government would consider a Europe-wide tax change on oil, the PMS said the Government had always made clear its position on tax harmonisation and our opposition to that was quite well known.
