Asked if the Prime Minister had any further thoughts regarding Richard Dannatt’s comments that there should be a class added to the medals given out for Afghanistan to reflect the nature of the fighting, the PMS replied that as the MOD had said yesterday, obviously the Chief of the General Staff had given his opinion on this issue. Overall, medals were a matter for all Chiefs of Staff.
